Stella :     What do you think? She is showing off or she is just introducing the life of a HK (SG) TaiTai?? By the way, must the son of a Real Tai Tai speak American English as first language though both his parents speak Cantonese?

Bob :       "Tai Tai's" are not exclusive for Hong Kong or China. You can find them anywhere in the world. It's a rather common species thriving under different cultures and economies. Interestingly wherever you find Tai Tai's you will also find mistresses, another common life form on earth. In fact the latest sociological survey conducted by the University of Common Sense indicates that the number of Tai Tai's tends to fall in line with the number of mistresses in a particular location. Some social scientist speculate that there's a symbiotic relationship between Tai Tai's and Mistresses which can be described as follows:

A husband who has a Tai Tai to begin with will be more likely to have a mistress because (let's face it) Tai Tai can be very boring after a while and a mistress will provide the needed stimulus for the husband. And a husband who has a mistress to begin with will be more likely to turn his wife into a Tai Tai because showering her with money and presents is one way for him to ease his sense of guilt. Thus the circle of symbiosis between Tai Tai and mistress is completed:When you find one, you find the other!

Metis :     I wonder why she committed herself to filming this video, flaunting her 'wealth' like that, is it for vanity? Shouldn't they worry about being burgled? And why is her son studying in Phuket, of all places? If she really had to make a choice, I think she'd still go for for the money than having the company of her husband every day. There's no need to be so bored, there are plenty of opportunities to be a volunteer in HK.

Stella :     It is not easy to be 'not for vanity'. Her life circle is limited to the Tai-Tai's.

They have to keep up with one another's life styles. Volunteering is an outliner. and needs a lot of courage to be one. But if they realize the power of their position to do so and can influence many people around and out, it will bring a lot of joy and meaning to their lives, much more than the bags and watches. Otherwise they are just like the bags and watches,  a pricey commodity that their husbands own.
